False Alarm Prevention

Occasionally, someone may accidently trigger your alarm, but there are ways to avoid too many.

Help reduce the likelihood of false alarms by understanding your security system and sharing these suggestions with your family.

• Read your system’s user manual

  Contact Melaleuca Security at 1-877-760-3444 if you have any questions. You can download user manuals if you have lost or misplaced yours.

• Test your system monthly

  This helps to make sure each component is working properly, and can help find potential device problems.

• Know how much time you have

  Make sure you know the amount of time you have after you arm your system to leave, and to disarm your system when you enter.

• Reherse and educate

  Know and rehearse the process to cancel an accidental alarm with your family.

• If someone has a home key, they should know the abort code

  Make sure everyone who has a key to your home knows the system’s abort code—including contracted workers such as repair technicians and cleaning personnel.

• Keep the contact number close by the phone

  Post the phone number to cancel an accidental alarm near the telephone. This number is 1-877-760-3444.

• Keep moving things and motion sensors apart

  Keep pets, balloons, fans, heaters, plants, etc. away from motion sensor areas.

• Keep general home maintainence up-to-date

  Quickly repair loose fitting doors or windows, roof leaks, or other building defects that could affect motion sensors.

• Notify of changes to your system setup or remodeling

  Call Melaleuca Security before remodeling your home, before moving sensors, and before getting a pet.
